DALLAS, April 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Top10MD is pleased to announce Dallas Orthopedic Surgeon and Shoulder Specialist Wayne Burkhead, MD, has been appointed Medical Advisor. Dr. Burkhead served as Consultant Shoulder Surgeon to the Dallas Cowboys from 1990 until 1998 under head team physician Robert Vandermeer. Dr. Burkhead will contribute to the Top10MD Medical Advisory Board as the company expands across the country.

As one of the nation’s premier shoulder surgeons and Dr. Burkhead serves on The International Board of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Dr. Burkhead has lectured at national and international conferences and is the author of scientific articles, literature, and academic text on the rotator cuff and dislocating shoulder. He was selected Presidential Guest Lecturer of the Japanese Shoulder Society in 1991 and was a Traveling Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997. In 2007, Dr. Burkhead was elected and served as President of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.

Dr. Burkhead has a special interest in arthritis of the shoulder, athletic and industrial injuries of the shoulder. Since joining The Carrell Clinic, he has performed thousands of arthroscopic, reconstructive, and replacement surgeries of the shoulder on patients, ranging from the professional athlete to the manual laborer. Dr. Burkhead is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member and past President of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He also serves as Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Burkhead has privileges at North Central Surgical Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital Texas Health Resources of Dallas.
