Laser Tattoo Removal

As we age, our lives change, our bodies change. Most of us have to grow up and enter the workforce at some point. We realize that some of the things we did in our youth are not conducive to our work environment. One of those things some of us eventually regret is the tattoo our fathers told us not to get.

A poll conducted in January 2012 by Harris Interactive reported that 1 in 7 (14%) of the 21% of American adults who have a tattoo regret getting one. The poll didn’t report the reasons for these regrets, but a poll that was done 4 years prior reported that the most common reasons were “too young when I got the tattoo” (20%), “it’s permanent” and “I’m marked for life” (19%), and “I just don’t like it” (18%).

Laser Technology For Tattoo Removal

Fortunately, with laser technology, you can safely remove that butterfly on your arm or your first wife’s name. The new lasers are 60% more 60% more powerful than most other lasers and approximately twice as fast. Tattoos that normally take 10 to 12 treatments for removal can now be removed in just 6 to 8 treatments. These new lasers offer multiple wavelengths to choose from giving your technician the best wavelength that is absorbed by a specific color ink, thereby customizing the treatment for each of your individual tattoos. Additionally, the new laser’s pulse rate is dramatically faster, allowing for quicker treatments that are safer and less painful for the patient. The laser works by breaking the ink in your tattoo down into tiny particles, which are then gradually removed by the body’s natural filtering systems.

Tattoos today can now be safely, comfortably and effectively removed in just a few treatment sessions.

Laser Tattoo Removal Procedure

Your technician will apply a topical anesthetic. Your tattoo is then treated with the appropriate laser wavelength depending on the tattoo color. During the procedure, your skin will turn white over the treated tattoo area, and you may experience some bleeding. After treatment, you will apply a special ointment or aloe gel and the area will be bandaged. The skin usually heals within one week while your body gradually absorbs most of the ink that was broken into smaller fragments over the next 4-8 weeks. The tattoo may continue to lighten for several months after a treatment.
