SkinPen 2018-02-02T10:04:01-05:00

The SkinPen is designed to stimulate your skin’s ability to produce collagen and is used to improve the appearance of acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. Also called Microneedling the SkinPen stimulates the skin’s ability to repair itself with little downtime.

Your doctor or esthetician under the supervision of your doctor uses the SkinPen to create a series of hundreds of vertical microscopic channels into the dermis – the top layer of your skin; this stimulates your natural production of collagen and elastic; this results in excellent skin rejuvenation with skin looking and feeling healthier.

Following your treatment, your skin begins the process of dissolving tissue damage and replacing it with new cells. Microneedling allows for a controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by creating precise, micro-injuries in the skin that automatically triggers new collagen synthesis without causing scar tissue formation. As your skin heals the new collagen production reverses years of sun damage, improves the appearance of acne scars and hyperpigmentation, as well as enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.

About Treatments

The SkinPen is highly tolerable; most patients state there is little or no discomfort during the procedure. Your doctor will assist you with any discomfort if need be.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure; however since the skin is penetrated, there will be some mild side effects afterward; this is dependent on needle depth used and intensity of your treatment. An acne scar treatment may produce more side effects due to deeper penetration levels.

Day 1 – Mild to moderate swelling and redness, mild bruising

Day 2 – Some persisting redness may still be present, but all should start diminishing at this point.

Day 3 – Most all of the redness, bruising and swelling should be nearly gone. Normal appearance with makeup may be achieved.

Day 4 – Your skin will appear mostly normal at this point with some minor swelling.
