Constipation is something that everyone experiences. No matter your age, size, or gender, you will have constipation at least once during your lifetime. Whenever you are constipated, you probably try laxatives first. Laxatives typically act very quickly. If you are taking a laxative, you want to make sure you are near a bathroom. Once laxatives kick in, it will have you running to the bathroom. Drinking water is also necessary. Just adding more water to your system may soften up the stool making it easier to be expelled. Fruits and vegetables are good because they also contain water and makes the stool soft. Fiber supplements are a natural method for treatment of constipation.

Constipation is avoidable if you eat properly and exercise. Sometimes while dieting, you try not to eat at all or take too many laxatives. Not eating at all creates a lot of constipation. Taking too many laxatives will slowly decrease their effectiveness which could end up causing constipation. You do not want to be dehydrated. Most of the time it is just a lack of water in our system that causes constipation. A lot of people do not like water, but water is necessary for us to live healthy lives. You should not strain to use the bathroom all the time. You also should not go more than four days without a bowel movement. Staying regular is important to your health.
