Breast Lift, Breast Augmentation, or Both?

Looking for a change? When it comes to your breast only you and your plastic surgeon can determine which procedure(s) would look best. Typically, you have three options: A breast augmentation, breast lift or a combination of both based on your measurements. Sometimes they are talked about as if they are the same thing, but they are entirely different procedures. It can be difficult trying to figure out which procedure(s) are needed, visiting with your plastic surgeon will help you get a better understanding of what will work best for you. Whether you are in need of a full augmentation, a full breast lift, mini-lift, two different procedures or a combo, a consultation with your surgeon will pave the way to a happy outcome and the confidence you’ve always dreamed of!

Breast Lift

A breast lift is also known as a Mastopexy. A breast lift is simply the lifting of the breast through the tightening of the skin. Some women do not have an issue with breast size, but low-set breast can affect your appearance and give you an older undesirable look. Surprisingly, breast lifts are becoming more and more prevalent than breast implants. Some common reasons for a breast lift include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Gravity
  • Breast Feeding
  • Weight loss
  • Age

Each of these factors can take a toll on the look of your breast. A lift makes a huge difference in your appearance in and out of clothes.

Breast Augmentation

A breast augmentation is an increase in breast size. It requires the use of implants. Breast augmentation surgery is more involved but still usually only takes an hour or two. Recovery is 1-4 weeks depending on how quickly they settle in. You will see your transformation immediately. Breast augmentations give that dramatic look many women are looking for.

The Combo

If you are a candidate for both procedures, you and your plastic surgeon will need to discuss the benefits of performing these procedures together or separate to give you a look you’ve long for. Remember, adding size to the breast does not lift them, and if your breasts are already sagging, implants will not make it better.

Plastic surgery can be a life-changing experience, all to make YOU feel better in your own skin. Over time, our bodies undergo a lot of wear and tear. Gravity and childbirth only exacerbate those problems. If you are a new mom or just tired of being a part of the itty bitty committee, a breast lift, augmentation, or combination of both may be what you need.
