HEALTH BENEFITS OF YERBA MATE TEA

Who knew that funny named tea, called Yerba Mate, had so many health benefits?! Is there really a collection of leaves that, when steeped in warm water, can help our body with digestion, mental focus, weight control, and in bringing oxygen to the blood? Yes, it’s called Yerba Mate!

Weight Control

Native South Americans used Yerba Mate tea as part of their everyday diet and lifestyle.  It’s stimulant qualities help you feel full sooner after eating and slow down the digestion process to keep you full for longer.  By slightly curbing the appetite, yerba mate tea will help you consume fewer calories and boost your metabolism at the same time.

More Anti-Oxidants Than Green Tea!

Yerba mate is high in antioxidants and even contains 90% more antioxidants than green tea.  It also has the ability to boost your immune system and detoxify the blood, which can help decrease your chances of cancer.

Among the vitamins it contains are vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B5, and B Complex, as well as calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, selenium, phosphorous and zinc.

Increased Mental Focus

Users of yerba mate tea have reported increased signs of focus, mental energy, and mental clarity from the vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants found in the tea.  Unlike coffee, which can cause stomachaches, jitters, and headaches, yerba mate tea does not cause these side effects.

Caffeine High Without the Crash

Unlike coffee, which can cause stomachaches, jitters, and headaches, yerba mate tea does not cause these side effects.   Yerba mate has about 80 milligrams of caffeine per cup, black tea has about 40 milligrams of caffeine per cup, and coffee can have as much as 100-200 milligrams of caffeine per cup. Because yerba mate contains less caffeine than coffee, that explains the lower likelihood of getting a “crash” a few hours after drinking.

Enhanced Physical Endurance

The chemical makeup of yerba mate tea boosts your metabolism and helps you digest carbohydrates more efficiently.  Because of this, you will get more energy from the food you eat.  This tea also helps reduce lactic acid build up, which will cut your recovery time after a work out.

Aids Digestion

Yerba mate helps to increase the production of bile and other gastric acids that aid in digestion.  This helps keep the colon clean, as well as affectively eliminating waste and reducing bacteria in the stomach.

Well, after hearing all this, lets take the challenge and drink a cup or two of Yerba Mate tea a day.  Wouldn’t it be great if we could add this simple habit to our everyday lives and potentially avoid being on additional prescribed medication in the future?
