The Phoenix Thera-Lase System is a non-invasive, drug-free laser therapy treatment that provides accelerated healing of wounds and sports injuries while reducing inflammation related to soft tissue injuries as well as providing drug-free pain relief. “Our newest sports Laser has literally cut recovery time in half for many of our patients by making energy available so the body can heal itself,” Says Dr. Sherine Reno, Medical Director of Performance Sports Medicine Clinic in Dallas, Texas.
Wavelength, Power, and Time
What is so special about this system is the non-invasive nature of it. It is non-thermal which means the patient rarely experiences any pain or discomfort, just a warm, soothing sensation. The system works by supplying energy to the body in the form of photons of light. The body is then able to absorb this external energy on a cellular level and transform light energy into chemical energy, which the body uses to accelerate the normal healing rate of tissue. Wavelength and power factors determine the penetration depth and quantity of energy available to transfer to the cells, and the type of healing determines the length of time needed to administer the treatment.
- Consult and Assess – Dr. Reno will assess each patient’s injuries and develop a treatment plan specific to them. When therapy is needed, each patient is treated with both laser and traditional exercise based on therapy to optimize the speed of healing and restore body mechanics so that return to play is hastened.
- Procedure – The injured site is first treated with the sports injury laser procedure, followed by an examination of the patient’s muscular, joint or and skeletal actions in our exercise based therapy. The number of sessions needed can vary depending upon the severity of the injury and each person’s natural healing rate.
- Follow-Up – Patients are re-evaluated every 3 weeks and the plan is adjusted based upon their progress. Nutritional counseling and prescription grade supplements are available on an as-needed basis.
