BUTTER IN YOUR COFFEE: THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT | TOP10MD

Yes, it’s the New Year and you heard us right! Try drinking your morning coffee with BUTTER in it!   So we’ve heard this news over the past couple of months and here are the facts. There is a right way and a wrong to do this.

1. Use Upgraded Beans When Brewing Your Coffee upgraded coffee beans

What do we mean by this? Upgraded Bulletproof coffee, specifically, is grown in Central America, by an estate called Passive Organic, at an elevation of 1250 feet above sea level. Most importantly, they do not use herbicides or pesticides to produce their coffee and this means that it has a low toxicity level and can truly be called “certified organic.”

On the flipside, most boutique coffees in America use herbicides and pesticides to grow their coffee because this is the most economically efficient way to grow coffee. And because of this, the toxicity level is high, which can lead to the presence of mycotoxins in the body when consuming it. *Mycotoxins are produced from a species of mold and can lead to disease in humans. The cheaper the coffee, the poorer the quality of beans and the more mold they allow on the beans. Furthermore, processing continues and as they add flavor, the techniques add more toxins to the coffee. A little tip on this, avoid “blends,” because they use a variety of beans from all over and are able to mix cheap beans in. So look for coffee that all comes from a single estate, not multiple different places.

In African coffee, they use a natural process to create it, however, during the time the coffee is allowed to sit outside, it can collect fecal matter from birds and other animals.

2. Use Grass-Fed Butter in Your Coffee – Not A Fake Substitute!

It is critically important to use grass fed butter in your coffee and preferably unsalted Kerrygold butter to preserve a Grass fed butternatural taste. Your first concern may be the saturated fat in butter. Never fear! There is a huge amount of research that has been compiled to thoroughly debunk any concern for saturated fats in our diet.

So why use grass-fed butter in place of regular butter? This is recommended because most cows eat corn or soy, and they were never meant to. This is simply a cheaper method to plump them up. If cows are fed grass, like they are supposed to, they produce the best kind of meat and milk. Also, grass-fed butter has the best ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids for optimal brain and heart health.

Secondly, grass-fed butter is loaded with Vitamin-K2, which helps to de-calcify your arteries. Grass-fed butter is also loaded with Butyrate, which is an anti-inflammatory acid.

Through blending the coffee in a blender (a hand-held blender is fine), it turns into a more frothy drink which is a lot more desirable way to consume butter in coffee than letting the fat sit on the surface. 5. Stop Adding Cream & Sugar to Your Coffee – Only Use Butter & MCT Oil

The whole purpose of putting butter and MCT Oil in your coffee is to give you a surge of good fats in the morning, that your body can use as a source of energy in place of sugar and carbohydrates, which is typically what we consume for breakfast (whether it be in cereal, milk, oatmeal, fruit, or breakfast bars).

The reason for this is that when we consume sugar and carbohydrates, our blood sugar levels spike and our energy levels crash a few hours later, leading to being excessively hungry and having food cravings. Then, we tend to overeat without the ability to feel very satisfied. Sugar and carbs also lead to brain fog and the feeling of just wanting to take a nap after a meal.
